[작품설명]
동명의 국악 공연에서 제목 및 소재의 영감을 얻은 곡입니다. 해당 공연의 주요 모티프인 ‘불모지로의 자발적 유배’를 재해석하여, Max/MSP를 기반으로 제작한 Additive Synthesis, FM synthesis, Phase Distortion, Noise Filter 사운드에 Delay, Reverb를 활용해 Logic Pro X에서 Tape Music으로 재구성했습니다. 곡은 3개의 파트로 나뉩니다. Part 1에서 주인공은 자발적으로 유배지인 섬에 들어왔지만 마음이 공간과 분리되어 있어, 기존 도시의 소리와 유배지의 소리가 불일치하는 이질감이 생깁니다.
Part 2에서는 유배지의 소리가 점진적으로 섞여들며 더욱 명확히 들려오기 시작하고, 주인공의 심경도 점차 변화하기 시작합니다. Part 3에서 드디어 유배지의 굿 소리가 명확히 들려오지만, 편집되고 왜곡된 소리이기에 결국 섞여들지 못하고 곡이 마무리됩니다. 스스로 섬으로 들어간 이의 점진적이고 미세한 심리적 변화를, Tape Music의 특성을 활용해 다룬 곡입니다.
New_Exile
This piece of music is inspired by a traditional Korean music performance with the same title and theme. It reinterprets the main motif of “voluntary exile to a wasteland”
and is created using Max/MSP with Additive Synthesis, FM Synthesis, Phase Distortion, and Noise Filter sounds, and restructured into Tape Music using Delay and Reverb effects in Logic Pro X.
The piece is divided into three parts.
In Part 1, the protagonist voluntarily enters an island of exile, but their mind remains detached from the space, creating a dissonance between the sounds of the city and the sounds of the exile.
In Part 2, the sounds of the exile gradually blend in and become more distinct, and the protagonist’s feelings begin to change.
In Part 3, the ritual sounds of the exile finally become clear, but since they are edited and distorted, they ultimately fail to integrate, and the piece concludes.
This piece uses the characteristics of Tape Music to explore the subtle and gradual psychological changes of someone who voluntarily enters an island.
